Presents The 2007 All-Media Invitational The Intentional Theatre takes joyous pride in pronouncing The 2007 All-Media Invitational a SUCCESS!!! A great bunch of people came together in a celebration of the arts, bringing such a variety of excellent talents together under one roof, and joined together in performance and presentation, and all for a terrific cause: the collection of non-perishable foods for the Waterford Interfaith Food Locker. We were ably assisted by some wonderful old and new friends, friends of friends, husbands of members, and a regular or two. Much thanks goes out to (in no particular order): Christopher Bell, and his intriguing use of everyday objects given new
life; and of course my sweetie-pie Sue, not only for her beautiful art, and her
monologue and scene work, (her debut!!) I'd also like to say thanks to Mgt for some delicious cookies, and to all for helping to make this come together. Special appreciation to Emma for putting us "on the air" at WBLQ, and to Steve Chupaska and Laura Bush of the Times Group of New London, Marleah Ross and Marshall Williams of The Guide of The Westerly Sun, all for two terrific articles (with pictures!) in advance of the show, and Ann Buonocore and all the "every day people" at WXLM. On that note, also a huzzah to Emma, Mark Hogan, and Chris Annino for some wonderful support in those interviews. It goes without saying, I hope, that thanks go out to all our audience members for their love and support, and that especially includes our "friend from Misquamicut", whoever you are. Hope you made it back safely, and maybe we'll see you again. If you don't know, as in our first show, this show we asked for non-perishable foods in donation as admission, all to go to the Waterford Interfaith Food Locker. This is a group of wonderful people in town who join across lines of spiritual belief to find their commonality in reaching out to those in need. This time around, with a perhaps conservative eye to pricing, we estimate that we collected about $300 dollars in food items, most of which are prime items, such as canned meats, fruits and vegetables, along with a variety of other "treats." If you want to find out more, just ask us. They can use more food, and probably another pair of hands now and then, whenever you've got some free time. This was a terrific "experiment" that we felt fairly sure of going into back in February when we first started putting thought to it. Take a bunch of talented, friendly people, let them bring their art to bear in harmony, throw a little wine and cheese in for good measure, and it's hard not to have a good night. Or four. Next year? Well, keep an eye out for your invitation! :) ** These eight artists (out of 15 total, counting my sweetie and me) were new to our stage, and continued what has become a tradition, if not a founding principle of Intentional Theatre, which is that each show introduces more new people to our audiences than there are IT veterans on stage. Some of our shows have been entirely new people, and the rest have been well over 50% on that quality. In keeping with our motto (well, one of them anyway) "Theatre like you've never seen before, because you haven't seen it before", we bring you new plays with new faces. You gotta like that! Intentional Theatre Department of Generosity.
