Betsy (Sam) made her debut with the Intentional Theatre in "State of the Art".

She has been wandering the floorboards of Connecticut theatres since her debut in “Death of a Salesman” at the Ivoryton Playhouse in 2003.  It was a ground-breaking moment for her, as she learned you need to be prepared for anything on-stage, including helping the lead back onto his feet.

Since then, she has performed with the East Haddam Stage Co. (Pictures at an American Exhibition), Groton Regional Theatre (I’m Not Rappaport), Chester Meetinghouse Players (An Evening with Tennessee Williams and Picnic) and Chelsea Players (Unwrap Your Candy).

Betsy felt fortunate to be working with the Intentional Theatre at first, and was especially pleased to be cast as “Sam” (The Smart One).  By the end, her perception might have been a bit more illusory in an intangible sort of way.  Even when given the opportunity to flee the country into exile, she nonetheless returned, and we're glad she did.

Betsy had nearly crossed paths with us at Ivoryton, when our creative director passed on the role of Howard.  Brushes with fame come so rarely.

"Nancy said WHAT to the photographer?" Betsy led the pre-rehearsal cast warm-ups and to say she was rigid would be a compliment. Soon she understood it IS easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission. Their synchronous dressing not being lost on Betsy, she exclaimed "You make such a cute couple!"
