Directions to The Intentional Theatre at the Margaret Stacy Barn
Below is a map of the last leg of your journey. If you've made it this far, you're almost there. You should be following the thin black arrow lines at this point.

By the way, this map and the directions below are most useful for people who would probably need to take the highway to get to our neck of the woods. If you live nearby, or if you're familiar with the greater Waterford area, you might find it easier to come down Rte 156 (Rope Ferry Road) or Rte 1 (Boston Post Road) and making the appropriate turn at the light at the corner of Avery Lane.   How you get there is up to you, but surely you know a couple ways, right?

It will bring you to the Waterford Green and Historical Society complex, which includes a number of "old" buildings.  The entrance to the parking lot is off Avery Lane.  It goes without saying that there is no smoking or alcohol allowed inside, so you'll need to take care of that on your drive in.

For printing, I recommend at least normal quality print, and color. Print directions. Close this screen when you're done.  Go back where you came.

From I-95 S/W (Coming from Groton/RI): Take I-95 to Exit 81, Cross Road. At the end of the off ramp, take a left. Go past some shopping centers (Super Wally World, Lowes, etc) to the light about a half-mile or so. As you approach this light you will want to be in the middle lane, but turning left. Turn onto Cross Road and prepare to go straight for a while, so note which lane to get in. Travel for about 1 mile to the next light at the intersection of Cross Road and Route 1- Boston Post Road at the "five corners". Skip to "All routes continued".

From I-95 N/E (Coming from New Haven/NY): Take I-95 to Exit 81, Cross Road. At the end of the off ramp, turn left onto the access road and continue to Cross Road. Turn right onto Cross Road.  Travel for about 1 mile to the next light at the intersection of Cross Road and Route 1- Boston Post Road at the "five corners". Skip to "All routes continued".

From Rte 2 Southbound (Coming from Hartford): Take Route 2 East to Exit 19 (Route11 South near Colchester). Continue on Route 11 to exit 4. At the end of the exit, turn left onto Rte. 82 and follow signs to Route 85 South, only about a mile or so. Turn right onto Route 85 (in Salem Four Corners) and continue on Rte. 85 for 7 1/2 miles. Skip to "From Rte2/I-395 continued".

From I-395 : Take Route 395 to Exit 77, Southbound turn left and Northbound turn right, onto Route 85 South. Skip to "From Rte2/I-395 continued".

From Rte2/ I-395 continued : Continue for approximately 9/10 of a mile. You will pass the Oakdell Motel on your left.  If it's getting late, you may want to stop and see about getting a room for the night.  At the next intersection there is a traffic light. (If you see Target and the many many malls, you went too far) Take a right onto Cross Road at this light and travel for approximately 2.2 miles down a commercial/industrial corridor. You will pass BJ's and the Cinemas on the left and travel over I-95. At the 2.2 mile mark, you will come to a light at the intersection of Cross Road and Route 1- Boston Post Road. Skip to "All routes continued".

All routes continued : Whew! Almost there. You should see a VFW across the intersection to the left. At this light, take a left onto Boston Post Road- Route 1. Travel for about 2 miles; you will pass a cemetery and the Waterford Post Office on your right and at the next light, there will be Silva's Package Store (D) on the right hand corner. Refer to map now. You did print out this page, right?  Turn right at the light onto Avery Lane. A short way on, around a corner and over a little rise, you will see on your left the Waterford Green, home to the Waterford Historical Society.  If you make it to the traffic light, you went too far!!!  Turn left into the parking lot, and park.  You'll notice a car-path in front of the white building (C) leading behind the red school house (B), and that will lead you to the barn (A).  There should be signs guiding you from here on.  If not, stand still and yell.  Someone will come to your aide.
